KULU DESSERTS: UNDERRATED WEEKDAY STUDY OR WORK NOOK

The most KTV-esque dessert shop in Flushing is most likely KULU Desserts. C-Pop hits greet you to the front counter. The Flushing KULU location is a significantly more spacious offshoot of the Brooklyn original (just off 8th Avenue, or 八大道), complete with complimentary WiFi and plenty of outlets for refueling all your electronics.

Fans have noted that this location serves even sweeter variations of the original KULU recipes, such as the acclaimed Ice Cream Mario ($5.75) and Mango Pomelo (also $5.75).* But because it was twenty-nine degrees outside, Flushing Food opted for some hotter choices: a sixteen-ounce fresh-brewed coffee ($1.95), and sweet ball & red bean soup ($4.50 for either sesame or peanut butter ball versions):

While waiting for our restaurant buzzer to signal that the order was ready, we settled in at the far left corner table of the airy second level, watching news on the two flat screens and enjoying a view of the sun setting on Downtown Flushing. Unlimited WiFi allowed us to happily browse social media sans any interruptions whatsoever. Quite a far cry from your typical weekday experience at Fayda Bakery or Paris Baguette!

May Flushing Food suggest: visiting around sunset to view Queens Crossing and St. George’s Episcopal Church:
